New technology may relieve chronic knee pain
[Fox 9 News, May 5, 2011] New technology could change the lives of millions of people who suffer from chronic knee pain and restore mobility now that the procedure can be expanded to Americans in their 40s.
Surgeons perform 600,000 knee replacement procedures every year, but thousands of patients are told they are too young. Now, a new approach being used at Abbott Northwestern Hospital could give another generation a new lease on life.
Nick Willing doesn’t take for granted what may appear to be a simple walk around the lake. “I could no longer run, had a hard time walking up stairs,” he recalled.
